Va Flaggers: Saturday, June 7th

Tomorrow, Saturday, June 7th, will be a busy one in the Capital of the Confederacy and the Va Flaggers would like to invite you to join us as we attend events to honor our President, pay tribute to one of the young victims of the Brown's Island explosion, and forward the colors on the Boulevard.
9:00 a.m.:  The 2014 Jefferson Davis Memorial Committee will conduct its annual birthday celebration on Hollywood Cemetery.  Keynote speaker will be Patrick Falci, portraying Confederate General A. P. Hill. Free programs, ribbons, ice water, rifle and cannon salutes, and ceremonial flags with certificates available as our fundraiser.  Free and open to the public.
11:30 a.m.:  Memorial Service and Gravestone Dedication in honor of Bridget M. Grimes "The Forgotten Victim of the Brown's Island Disaster"  Mount Calvary Cemetery, 1400 S. Randolph Street.  (See attached)
1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.:  FLAGGING THE VMFA:  Join the Virginia Flaggers as we forward the colors, protest the forced removal of Confederate Battle Flags from the Confederate Memorial Chapel by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, and be a part of changing hearts and minds in the Capital of the Confederacy!

Our protests are peaceful and largely educational.  While we remain firm in our position, and determined in our commitment to draw no quarter in the defense of the Confederate soldier's good name, we recognize that as flag bearers, we have the obligation to represent our ancestors in a manner that would properly reflect their honor and dignity.  There is no belligerence, no bullying, no "waving flags in people's faces" or personal attacks (at least not on the part of the Flaggers).  What does take place are many conversations and opportunities to educate, a beautiful display of Confederate flags where they have been banned, and a constant reminder to VMFA officials  that there are still those of us, with the blood of our Confederate ancestors coursing through our veins, who will not sit back quietly and allow a Confederate Memorial to be desecrated.
RETURN the flags!
RESTORE the honor!
